HMM-163, Da Nang 1964

HMM-163 arrived in Da Nang in 1962 with its UH-34 helicopters. This deployment was part of the Shufly program, during which USMC helicopter squadrons supported South Vietnamese infantry units. The Marines who served with these squadrons were among the first USMC personnel deployed to Vietnam. This photo series shows a UH-34 crew and support personnel before and after a mission in 1964.
