UH-1 helicopter pilot, 20th SOS, Tuy Hoa AB 1969. This

unit inserted MACV-SOG teams for cross-border operations

in Laos and Cambodia, hence the “shellburst” patch worn on the

chest. Interestingly, the pilot apparently had his suit made in

South Korea, when he was a HH-3 “Jolly Green Giant” rescue

helicopter pilot (Giant footprints can be seen instead of his

rank insignia on shoulders, there is a South Korean flag on the

sleeve, and there is a HH-3 drawing in the back, not visible

here). He added a South Vietnamese flag and a 20th SOS patch

when he transferred to that unit.
