7th Airborne Command & Control Squadron, Korat RTAFB 1972

The 7th Airborne Command & Control Squadron (ACCS) flew EC-130 aircraft from Takhli, and later from Korat, and was in charge of coordinating air support over the Steel Tiger and Barrell Roll areas of Laos. It sometimes worked with SOG teams inserted in the eastern area of Laos.

The Squadron had four detachments with separate areas of operation and shifts; each det had its own callsign: Cricket, Alleycat, Moonbeam, Hillsboro.

This photo series shows a Cricket pilot (flying the day shift over the Barrell Roll and southern Steel Tigers areas) after his last mission. He is presented a plaque by the squadron commander. The men are wearing CWU-27/P nomex flight suits, red squadron party suits, and Tan 1505 service uniforms.
