3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, Bien Hoa 1969

The 3rd TFW was transferred from England Air Force Base to Bien Hoa in November 1965. The majority of its aircraft were F-100 fighter jets, used mainly for direct air support in South Vietnam. The F-100 was too vulnerable to be employed against the heavy defenses of North Vietnam. The Wing also provided air support during the US incursion in Cambodia in 1970. This photo series shows pilots attending an intelligence briefing before a mission in South Vietnam.
