366th Tactical Fighter Wing “Gunfighters”, Da Nang 1968

The 366th TFW flew the F-4 Phantom fighter-bomber out of Da Nang; the “Gunfighters” flew missions over North and South Vietnam. They earned their nickname in 1967 when the 366th was the first wing to use the SUU-56/A gun pod in combat, with great success against north Vietnamese Migs. The airmen pictured here belong to the 366th Munitions Maintenance Squadron, which was in charge of the famous gun pods.
